
![]() Adobe PageMill In This Section: » Overview » Create a Simple Page » Publish Your Web Page Overview Top This tutorial will guide you step-by-step through configuring Adobe PageMill 2.0 to exchange files between your computer and your web site. In order to follow along with us, you'll need to have Macromedia Dreamweaver installed, and you'll need to be connected to the Internet via your Internet service provider. Create a Simple Page Top Before you may publish an html file to your web site with Dreamweaver, you must either have a page already created, or create a page. To create a page with Dreamweaver, follow these simple steps: 1. With PageMill 2.0 open, choose File, New. 2. Type in "This is a simple test" 3. From the menu bar, choose File --> Save As. 4. Name the html file. (If this file is to be your home page, be sure to name it index.html) Once you have the file saved to your hard drive, you are ready to publish the file. Publish Your Web Page Top 1. Launch PageMill's Uploader (if not already running). ![]() 2. In the Uploader dialog box, click Add... ![]() You will see a dialogue box like this: ![]() 3. In the Site mapping name field, enter a name for your website. 4. In the Hostname field, enter ftp.yourdomain.com. 5. Enter WWW in the Remote folder field. 6. Enter the path to the location on your local computer where you have saved your Website. You may also click Browse... and browse around for the location. 7. Enter your username in the User name field. 8. Enter your password into the Password field. Be sure to enter the password exactly. CASE DOES COUNT! You won't be able to see what you're typing; Composer, like most Internet applications, wants to protect your password from prying eyes and *'s it out as you type. 9. Check the Save password box if you wish PageMill to remember it for you and save you having to type it each time you publish. 10. Click OK to finish. You are returned to the Uploader dialog box.
