How to password protect a directory or create a sub web in FrontPage 2000 Top If you want to password protect a directory or create a sub web in FrontPage 2000, please follow these directions: 1. Create a new folder in you web by clicking File/New Folder. (OR choose the folder you already have that you want to password protect or turn into a sub web). 2. Click on that folder and right click and choose 'Convert to Web'. It takes about 10 minutes for it to convert the folder to a web so be patient. 3. Choose Tools/Security/Permissions and click on the Settings Tab and choose 'Use unique permissions' then choose the Users tab and click the box next to 'Valid username and password required to browse web'. Then go to Tools/Server/Change Password and put in the password for the main web, and put in what the new password is. You can now use this folder as a 'web folder' which means if you put an index.html file in that folder, you don't have to use the name 'index.html' when accessing that file. All you have to use in the URL is the folder name and FrontPage will automatically find that file for you.
