Most search engines do not charge anything to be listed in their directories. The best place to start is www.yahoo.com. Just click on 'How to Suggest a Site' at the bottom of the page and follow the instructions. Links to the Top Search Engines Top The surest way to get listed with each one of these sites is probably the least fun and the most work. That would be to follow the links below to each site and add your web site information to their database by hand. Most of these engines have a link (usually at the bottom of their homepage)that says something to the effect of "add url" or "submit your site." It also happens to be the least expensive. NOTE: We offer a Search Engine Submission Tool that is located in the Control Panel of all LA InterWeb customers. This tool steps you through submitting your site to the top 12 Search Engines with a click of a button. Studies show that 90% of all searches are made using the top 12 Search Engines! But, before submitting your site, be sure and update your website by putting in the necessary META Tags mentioned below. There is no guarantee that you will be placed at the top of the search engine list. So, check out all our resources below to try to move our site to the top of the list.
Editing Your META Tags (Important First Step) Top Meta tags for your "title", "description", and "keywords": < meta NAME="keywords" CONTENT=" your keywords here" > < meta NAME="description" CONTENT="your description here"> < title >your title here A Title (with a high percentage of your site's keywords, and a title that starts with an "A" is best because some search engines sort alphabetically). A Description (with a high percentage of your site's keywords) Keywords (to see someone's keywords, while viewing a web site, click "view" "source". Then you can see what keywords they are using (who they are targeting). For fun, go to your competitors web sites, and click "view ", "source" (Netscape calls it "page source".)
