![]() Monthly Data Transfer In This Section: » How to Manage Your Monthly Data Transfer How to Manage Your Monthly Data Transfer Top Monthly data transfer is the amount of information that you transmit from your site. In other words, each time a picture or HTML page is viewed by a visitor, it adds to your monthly data transfer. The average HIT is approximately 10k. This would mean that a transfer limit of 1.0 Gigabyte would allow 100,000 hits and a limit of 8.0 Gigabytes would allow 800,000 hits. (That's a lot!) You can monitor your monthly transfer in your control panel and add more transfer to your account at any time by clicking on 'Upgrade CP' in your control panel. Just upgrade to a higher plan to add additional data transfer. Or, contact us and we can add an additional data transfer package to your account. Additional data transfer costs $12 per extra GB, $50 per extra 5 GB. The add-on package will stay on your account and you will continue to be billed for it monthly until you contact LA InterWeb and ask to have it removed. You can setup your account to notify you via email when you are nearing your data transfer limit. Just click on 'Account Management' and setup the notification. If at any time you go over your data transfer limit, our system will automatically email you and put your account on a short grace period. You should go into your control panel and upgrade to a higher plan with more data transfer, or contact us to add on an additional data transfer package in order to avoid having your account suspended. If your account is suspended, you will be notified by email. Just go to our Help Desk and ask that your Web site be un-suspended so that you can go into your control panel and perform the upgrade on your account. To keep your data transfer low follow these suggestions: keep your images below 10k, do not use too many images on your site, limit image size to below 20k, limit your audio/video clips, and if you are getting a lot of hits and using a lot of data transfer, monopolize on this! Sell banner space. It's not a 'bad' thing to use a lot of data transfer if you are making money on the extra traffic. |
